The GPI Operations Department is looking for a Campaign Operations Advisor (Security) to provide advice, inspiration, guidance, oversight and support in the areas of actions, investigations, security and maritime operations.
The Campaign Operations Advisor (Security) is part of a multidisciplinary team, that provides guidance and support on all Greenpeace’s operational topics to the organisation, and leads on providing comprehensive security and risk assessment advice to (NROs) and project teams in order to ensure that all vital legal risk analysis and security requirements are met in advance of all risk taking activities, in accordance with organisational policies.
Main tasks of this role:
Proactively and on request, provide specialist security advice and generic advice on actions, investigations, ships.
Lead security advice for global projects, to the Operations Department and to the National Regional Organisations
Contributes to spreading Smart Risk Taking and Duty of Care experience across the organisation.
Liaises with counterparts in the Capacity Development team to identify security capacity development needs based on global programme priorities.
Contribute to the Campaign Operations unit team building, the sharing of knowledge, expertise and ideas in the field of security in order to improve the overall output of the team, covering for other members of the unit in their absence for sustained periods of time when required, in order to ensure the capacity within the unit to support and coordinate land and ship based Non Violent Direct Actions (NVDAs)
Actively participate in the relevant global programme planning and design process in order to ensure the effective inclusion of the operational security components, in consultation with relevant functions, project specifications and the strategic inclusion of ‘smart’ risk taking activities in the design and implementation of the global program and engagement plans.

What we are looking for:
Substantial experience as a Security Manager or Senior Action/Logistics Coordinator
Experience in the field of Security management
Demonstrable commitment to NVDA protest and environmental/peace issues
Desirable experience and or knowledge of the use of land/water/airborne (action) equipment
Experience in working to very tight deadlines
Excellent interpersonal skills and experience in operating within an international and multicultural environment
Project management skills
Budget management experience
Ability to work effectively in a high pressure environment
Fluency in written and spoken English (additional language desired)
