Primary Location

The place of work is off site (outside Switzerland), with some business travels when required to HQ, Administrative Centers and countries of operations.

Reporting Line

The Research Officer reports to the Director of R&D, Global Strategy and Collaboration

General Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Director of R&D, Global Strategy and Collaboration, the Research Officer will be mainly responsible for the following:

· performing background research (qualitative and quantitative) on relevant activities.

· provide support to data management and analysis, research, and impact studies.

Specific Responsibilities

· Support the Director of R&D, Global Strategy and Collaboration to draft the institutional sections of proposals and concept notes.

· Support the Director of R&D, Global Strategy and Collaboration to maintain RET’s Knowledge Management database in close coordination with the Data Management Specialist.

· Update the institutional thematic summaries based on the updated project table.

· Representing the organisation in specific task teams or working groups and in chosen meetings, conferences, forums, etc. and prepare briefs for the relevant HQ staff.

· Improve, update and maintain RET’s digital and physical archives including but not limited to Concept Notes, proposal’s packages, reports submitted to donors.

· Support quality assurance of RET documents for donors (proposals & reports) and other stakeholders, including data gathering, proof-reading and editing.

· Provide all-round administrative and research assistance to the Director of R&D, Global Strategy and Collaboration

· Perform any other tasks assigned by the Director of R&D, Global Strategy and Collaboration.

In addition, like all RET Staff

· Comply with internal policies, ensuring that activities and their performance comply with what is established in RET’s Code of Conduct and other Manuals;

· Work as a team member to achieve RET’s goals;

· Manage in a transparent way RET’s resources, fulfilling effectively and efficiently the tasks entrusted;

· Propose, constructively, alternative solutions to problems that arise in the work area;

Key Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and four years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree and two year of relevant experience.

· At least two years’ work experience preferably with an International and Non-Governmental Organization is preferred.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English is a must. Fluency in French and/or Spanish is preferred.

· Prior experience in international development in a donor-funded setting.

· Demonstrable ability in conducting desk research and report writing, highly developed qualitative and quantitative research skills

· Knowledge of SharePoint in relation to document management, knowledge management and content management. Ability to perform administrative tasks on platform and knowledge of platform to direct others to implement best practices.

· Knowledge of business and strategic analysis, workflow tools and/or practices.

· Excellent organizational skills and an ability to prioritize, multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

· Demonstrated ability to work on multiple concurrent projects with varying schedules for different end-users.
