Title: Programme Assistant Inclusive Education

Location: Kaduna, Nigeria

Contract: 2 Year Fixed Term Contract

Sightsavers is recruiting a Programme Assistant to support the implementation of an Inclusive Education Programme for children with disabilities in Northwest, Nigeria. The postholder will be a member of the Support Mainstreaming Inclusion to all Learn Equally (SMILE) program team and take responsibility for seeking and providing feedback on all SMILE activities and deliverables.

About the role

Support the creation, implementation and management of the annual work plan
Assist in the roll out of implementation plans
Review and update the project schedule with input from the programme team and management
Support in the creation of a detailed programme monitoring plan
Help monitor and implement smart actions to improve efficiency and quality of the project implementation
General support with reports, documentation, payment schedules and case studies related to the programme
Work with the Programme Officer to oversee the smooth running of the programme, ensuring consistency with the project priorities, deliverables and outcomes
Share findings from evaluations to support organisational learning and contribute to policy processing/development
Visit LGA’s and communities to ensure quality and efficiency of monitoring activities
Advocate for Sightsavers with local partners and relevant forums
Build working relationships with Government and organisations of PWD’s at all levels to raise the profile of Sightsavers
Support the review of Education in pilot schools, updating the team on priorities/constraints regularly
Job holder requirements

Essential

Experience or tertiary degree in Education, Social Science, Social Work, Psychology or related fields
Strong working knowledge and understanding of DO NO HARM principles and established international child protection standards (UNCRC) essential
Proven track record as a team player working with integrity and commitment
An understanding of and commitment to equality of opportunity for disabled people
Able to multitask and prioritise
Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Hausa languages
Able to develop budget plan and workplan
